2025 Minneapolis Municipal Election
City of Minneapolis elected officials are on the ballot this year! If you’re a Minneapolis resident, your ballot will include:
Mayor
City Council
Park Board
Board of Estimate and Taxation
🗳️ Early voting will start on September 19 and run until November 3. You can vote early via mail or in person. Election Day is Tuesday, November 4. You can learn more about voting deadlines on the City’s website.

Who Does What In Minneapolis?
It can be hard to know who’s in charge of what—there are a lot of different elected roles! We made a few graphics to help break it down.
Who’s Running for What in Whittier?
Mayoral Race
The Mayor represents the whole city (including Whittier!). The current mayor is Jacob Frey, who is running for re-election. He is being challenged by DeWayne Davis, Howard Dotson, MN State Senator Omar Fateh, Jazz Hampton, and Brenda Short.

Board of Estimate and Taxation Race
The elected candidates for the Board of Estimate and Taxation represent the whole city (including Whittier!). The two current elected members, Steve Brandt and Samantha Pree-Stinson, are both running for re-election and are currently unopposed. Ward 10 City Council Race
All of Whittier is within City Council Ward 10, which is currently represented by Council Vice President Aisha Chughtai. She is running for re-election. Lydia Millard is currently the only other candidate running for City Council in Ward 10. You can find CVP Chughtai’s campaign website here and Lydia Millard’s campaign website here.
District 3 and Park Board Races
Starting with the 2025 election, Whittier will be divided between Park Board District 3 and District 4. You can see the map of Park Board districts here.
The current Park Board Directors for District 3 and 4 have both decided not to run for re-election.
Currently, there is only one candidate in District 3: Kedar Deshpande. You can find his campaign website here. (Disclaimer: Kedar is a Whittier Alliance board member, though Whittier Alliance is not endorsing in this or any other race.)
